Toasted S’mores Hot Chocolate Recipe
October 21, 2015
There are so many ways to enjoy hot chocolate. I bet you could do a 30-day challenge based on trying a different recipe every day!
Of course, "the classic" is always comforting and tasty. It's my go-to for a late night snack in the colder months.
A steaming mug of hot cocoa perfectly satisfies my sweets craving enough so that I don't devour the whole cookie jar at 10pm.
Below is a hot chocolate recipe I found particularly intriguing. The idea of crumbly graham cracker bits and toasted marshmallows sounds just heavenly! This recipe makes just 2 servings, perfect for a warm and toasty night in.
Also, check out the awesome info-graphic below by She Knows. It shows ten different ways to make your hot chocolate extra fun and delicious!
Toasted S'mores Hot Chocolate
Add milk and water to saucepan on medium heat and warm for about five minutes. Add in chocolate syrup, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk together until combined thoroughly. Move baking rack to a top tier, high enough to broil marshmallows, but low enough to fit in the baking sheet and your mugs of cocoa. Set backing sheet on top rack. Preheat the oven to a low broil. Break open a few marshmallows and spread their "gooeyness" around the tops of your mugs. Then dip the tops of mugs in graham cracker crumbs. Pour in hot cocoa mixture and top with marshmallows. Set mugs on baking sheet in oven to toast marshmallows. Watch carefully. Remove gently and top with chocolate syrup drizzle and extra graham cracker crumbs, if desired. Let mug handles cool before serving. |
