Is there really such thing as keto chocolate? Almost all commercial chocolates are high in sugar and carbs… and even if you find a sugar-free or low carb one, is it safe to assume that it’s keto-friendly?

Last week I started talking about the chocolates I’ve been eating during my time of “safer at home.” I hope you were able to find or make stuffed dates covered in chocolate. Or, if not, had something equally fruity and delicious (chocolate covered strawberries or apricots comes to mind!).
So, what am I eating today? Right now I’m enjoying the last of my First Nibs selection from Raaka.

I have previously blogged about the Wisconsin based Dillon’s Chocolates back in June of 2016. I reviewed several different varieties of their Wisconsin Bar. Now, I’m taking a look at their Dillon Bar - a much larger, more standard sized chocolate bar (3.5 oz.).

The Good...
The Theo vanilla nib dark chocolate bar is chocolatey and crunchy and, yes, vanilla-y. The crunch mostly comes from the roasted nibs, but I suspect that the ground vanilla bean contributes as well.
This bar is 65% cacao so it starts with a healthy dose of rich cocoa notes. The chocolate has some muted spicy and floral flavors that peak out after the vanilla dissipates. The chocolate is delicious.
The Not So Good...
Lindt 90% Supreme Dark Review

I’m sure there are many who might look at a chocolate bar label with 90% cacao and cringe. That’s almost like eating unsweetened baking chocolate! One would have to be out of their mind to eat such a thing, right?
On the other hand, if you’re into super dark chocolate like me, you look at that label and smile. 90% has some serious chocolate impact to inflict!
