Tcho Bites Toffee & Sea Salt Chocolate Discs
December 9, 2018
It’s my personal mission to bring chocolate just about everywhere I go. Doesn’t matter if it’s a casual visit or a formal evening, chocolate is a welcomed gift. If it’s shared right away, I have the pleasure of discussing flavor and texture with the recipient(s) as well as learning what they think about it.
In a recent trip over to a friend’s house, I took a bag of Tcho Bites - Toffee and Sea Salt chocolate snacks. They are round bite-sized wafers of toffee coated in organic 53% cacao “dark milk” chocolate.
Wild Huckleberry Dark Chocolate Sea Salt
April 24, 2018
A dear friend of mine recently returned from a visit to Colorado. She brought me a gift of chocolate from the Creede Trading Company in Creede, Colorado. She thought the bar, Wild Huckleberry Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt, would be something I’d enjoy. Indeed! I’ve trained her well.
Mast Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Chocolate
February 12, 2018
Some gifts are better than others. For me, the best gifts I receive are consumable; chocolate, wine, chocolate. Actually, it doesn’t even have to be food. Could be anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, antioxidant facial serum. Just saying!
Hands down, the best gift to receive (and give!) is chocolate. Recently, my brother gave me a gift of some chocolate bars from Mast Brothers. He knows what I like!
Karamell-Küche – Dark Chocolate Caramel
December 12, 2017
Karamell-Küche, the “Caramel Kitchen”, in the Germany Pavilion at Disney World’s Epcot, is full of caramel candies and desserts. These treats are freshly made on-site from the famous Werther’s brand recipes.
Sitting in the shop, looking lonely, and calling my name is a Dark Chocolate Caramel with Sea Salt. This caramel is as big as the palm of my hand and two fingers thick! It looks like it could be a small cake but it’s a solid block of caramel coated in dark chocolate.
Sanders Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels
October 25, 2017
In 1875, Fred Sanders Schmidt (known as Fred Sanders) opened Sanders Fine Chocolates in Detroit, Michigan. In the 1940’s and 1950’s, Sanders chocolate products and shoppes were all over the Great Lakes region. The shoppes sold not only chocolates and candies, but served light lunches, ice cream sodas, and hot fudge sundaes. Morley Candy Makers, Inc., bought Sanders in 2002.
Every once in a while I like to enjoy a dark chocolate covered caramel. I can get tired of caramels pretty quickly though. (I don’t particularly like how the caramel adheres to my teeth for so long after the chocolate coating melts and the chocolate flavors fade).
Kaoka Dark Chocolate with Fleur de Sel
October 4, 2017
Today’s review is a great tasting 70% dark chocolate bar from a company based in France called Kaoka. Kaoka grows their cacao in Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Sao Tome. This particular chocolate is organic, non-gmo verified, fair trade, and single origin Santo Domingo cocoa from the Dominican Republic.

The Chocolate Trader: Dark Chocolate with Olive Oil and Sea Salt

Here’s a little Milwaukee, Wisconsin history. In 1916, Joseph and Lottie Helminiak, founded Quality Candy Shoppes on Mitchell street in Milwaukee. Over the next 100 years, the company has grown, been through some changes, and became well known in Wisconsin.
In the 1960’s, Quality Candy bought Buddy Squirrel, a nut roasting and gourmet popcorn company, also located in Milwaukee. It became Quality Candy/Buddy Squirrel. Later, it was purchased and renamed Buddy Squirrel, LLC.
MilkBoy Swiss Alpine Milk Chocolate with Crunchy Caramel and Sea Salt
July 17, 2017
Milkboy is made in Switzerland and according to their website, www.milkboy.com, cows that graze the alpine meadows “produce some of the best-quality milk available, milk for which Switzerland is rightly famed.”
In addition to “best-quality milk,” the milk solids content is 24%. This is much higher than minimal levels required for milk chocolate in the U.S. (which is 12%). No wonder it’s uber-milky and creamy! Read more
