There's always something bewitching about homemade treats, homemade chocolate-covered pretzels being one of them. Fancy pretzel rods are everywhere, and they tend to ostentatious. They can get quite intimidating at times, but we should not forget how easy they are to make at home.
You can whip them up for a party, or during a typical day with your family. They are easy to make, and boy are they delish!

White chocolate covered pretzels are nearly compulsory for the holidays, but they're just as good to have just because.
Did you know that the original version of the pretzel was a strip of dough, given to children as a reward for memorizing parts of the Bible? It was then called "pretiola" which is Latin for "reward." It rapidly became popular and was prepared in other parts of Europe such as Germany, the country that coined the term "bretzel" which eventually changed into "‘pretzel."
The crunch of the pretzel coupled with the sumptuousness of the chocolate covering never fails to leave people asking for more! You can either immediately bite while enjoying chocolate covered pretzels or let the chocolate melt in your mouth first before enjoying the pretzel.

Dark Chocolate Covered Bavarian Pretzel

In my opinion, pretzels and chocolate make a stellar combination. The salty, slightly nutty flavor of the pretzel blended with the chocolatey bitterness of the dark coating taste oh-so-good together!
The Rocky Mountain Dark Chocolate Covered Bavarian pretzel is a fine example of this great combination and even beats my expectations. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory did a superb job in finding the right dark chocolate coating so that with its intense, bold flavor, the pretzel does not overpower the chocolate, rather the flavors merge into a fine taste treat.
As I was tasting my mind wandered to the pretzel part, as I have hardly given pretzels a second thought through the years. Digging into it a little bit I uncovered some basic pretzel info and then tried to find a definition of a "Bavarian" pretzel.

Caramel Dipped Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Here's a recipe for pretzels dipped in caramel and then covered in semisweet chocolate. These are a little fussy, but oh-so-good!
