Earlier this year I posted a blog about chocolatier extraordinaire, Syovata Edari, and her award-winning fine chocolates. I had received a large gift box at Christmas, and my tasting experience left quite an impression on me. The “Ohhhh yeah, this is incredible!” kind of impression. I knew there was going to be a visit to CocoVaa in my future.

Another Endangered Species chocolate review – actually, two of them. Why do I keep coming back to this brand? Well, there are a lot of varieties (more than 15 flavors in chocolate bars alone) to get through. But more than that, they always provide a consistent, good tasting chocolate. And I can find them everywhere.

In 1922, Luisa Spagnoli created a hazelnut confection and covered it in dark chocolate. She called it “Cazzotto,” because the shape reminded her of a “fist.” But one of the founding partners, Giovanni Buitoni, wondered why a customer would want to buy something called a fist? She changed the name to Baci, meaning “kisses.”

Hazelnuts have been all the rage since the dawn of Nutella. But, long before Nutella made its way into the dreams of children and adults alike, hazelnuts have been paired with chocolate to make all sorts of delectable goodies.
While studying abroad in Europe, one of my very favorite treats was Nutella spread onto a fresh croissant. Yum!
For this recipe, we experiment with hazelnuts and white chocolate, what a divine pairing. Add some summertime apricots to that, and voilà, you've got ultra-tasty truffles!
