Swiss Town Covered in Cocoa Snow
August 27, 2020
Let's take a moment to imagine snow during the summer. Gross, right? How dare I even bring it up! Snow in August isn't fun to think about (at least not in the northern hemisphere!), but what if that snow was... chocolate?
In the Swiss town of Olten on a warm Friday in August, this dream become a strange reality.
Residents of this town, home to the Lindt & Spruengli chocolate factory, got quite a surprise when fine particles of cocoa powder began falling from the sky. As reports of mysterious brown particles began flooding in, the Lindt & Spruengli company came forward to offer an explanation.
Due to a malfunction in their factory ventilation system (and strong morning winds!) the dust from roasted cocoa nibs blew from the building and coated the immediate vicinity in fresh cocoa powder. Check out the picture down below that one resident posted on Twitter of their "snow" covered car! Anyone else have the urge to taste it? No? Just me?
Factory production now continues as normal and the company has ensured the public that these tasty particles were harmless to people and the environment. The ventilation system has since been repaired.

In response, another Twitter user (@roripn) posted, "It finally happened guys!! 2020 screwed up just enough that it finally did something right."
I may hate winter, but I would never complain about snow again if it were made of chocolate.
