Snicker Bars
July 23, 2014
If you still don't know what my favorite candy bar is, you obviously haven’t been paying enough attention. Boohoo.
It’s Snickers®. I’m head over heels crazy about the chocolate, peanut, nougat, and caramel combo. I’ve mentioned it a million times, so I’m just gonna dive in head first and make my own homemade Snickers bars.
Growing up, we were rarely allowed candy bars, but I always wondered why my mother had no issue with buying bags of fun-sized Snickers. It’s like when it’s fun-sized, calories don't count. I ended up eating bag after bag. Ah, the good ol’ days.
These days, I don't crave candies like I used to. I crave chocolate instead, and dark at that. But snickers will always be in my blood. They are my sunshine in a pack.
Here's a recipe that simulates the experience. For you Snickers fans like myself, prepare your hair to be blown back.
Snicker Bars
Melt chips and shortening in microwave. Stir until smooth. Pour 1/2 of chocolate mixture into 8-inch foil-lined pan. Refrigerate until firm (about 15 minutes). Put caramels, butter and water in bowl and heat in microwave. Stir until smooth. Blend in nuts. Pour over first chocolate mixture; refrigerate until tacky (about 15 minutes). Reheat remaining chocolate, if necessary. Pour over top, chill, cut and enjoy. |
Enjoy! 🙂
