July 26, 2022
I love chocolate milk drinks but let’s be honest, they are full of sugar. That is why creating your own and using healthier milk alternatives is a better solution to ensure you’ll get all its nutritional goodness.
Almond milk contains half the calories of a cow’s milk and since it’s homemade, you can definitely control the amount of added sugar in it. And since you are not using an animal product, it’s dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Plus, it also has no cholesterol. Yummy and healthy. Win-win, right?
Another good thing about homemade drinks, is that you can share it with the kids and kids-at-heart without worrying for harmful ingredients. As well as to anyone who’s trying to lose weight, like me!
What Is In It?
Almonds are right in a lot of Vitamin B complex which is vital for our brain development. It also balances your cholesterol levels and is very good for diabetics because of its low glycemic index.
We are also using unsweetened cocoa powder, which also helps improve blood sugar and reduce insulin sensitivity. But you can also use cacao nibs or high-quality dark chocolate to get the added dose of antioxidants.
For sweeteners, you can opt to use dates, raw honey, maple syrup, or your chosen whole sugar, depending on your dietary restrictions. You can also add cinnamon at the top or even a dash of vanilla to spice it up.
Benefits of Chocolate Almond Milk
Together, chocolate almond milk contains Magnesium and Phosphorous which helps the metabolism of calcium and potassium in our body thus helping the formation of our bones and teeth. As well as Vitamin E which helps repair damaged skin, balances cholesterol levels, and makes our hair shiny.
Making almond milk from scratch required an ample amount of time since you will have to soak your almonds overnight to get them all plump and doubled in size before blending. Or, if you prefer to use your trusted processed almond milk, then that’s okay too.
So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get into it!
