Pacari Dark Chocolate – Cuzco Pink Salt & Nibs
February 5, 2018
Chocolate made from Ecuadorian cacao is among my favorites. This 60% dark chocolate bar with sea salt and nibs is made with 100% Ecuadorian cacao. Ecuador is home to the native Arriba Nacional, a very fine and flavorful cacao. This bar doesn’t disappoint!
Pacari Chocolate, a family-owned business since 2003, is dedicated to their “tree to bar” process of making chocolate. They craft their chocolate entirely in the country of origin.
Pacari Premium Organic Chocolate
For this organic dark chocolate bar, the aromas are fruity and chocolatey. The flavor is intensely chocolate, immediately followed by sour red berries and ripe blueberry. The texture is crunchy from both the nibs and the sea salt (unfortunately, some bites overwhelm me with saltiness). The nibs are absolutely delicious. They have a great roasted bean flavor. The chocolate is soft and melts quickly in the mouth.
I can certainly understand why this bar won the International Chocolate 2014 World Silver award!
According to the Pacari website, “the word Pacari means "nature" in Quechua, an indigenous language of the Andean region. The name was chosen to evoke all that our chocolate is about: the best products from the earth, all natural and 100% Ecuadorian.”
I found this Pacari chocolate at my local, Fresh Market grocery store for $5.50. It’s on the small side, 1.76 ounces, but the price tag is fair considering the quality and craftsmanship of the chocolate.
This Pacari dark chocolate with Cuzco Pink Salt and Nibs bar has good flavor and good texture. I love the nibs! There were moments when some bites were too salty for my taste. Other than that, I must have had a great tasting experience – the chocolate disappeared!
