Hot Fudge Sundae Cake Recipe
October 1, 2014
Being a self-confessed chocolate addict, I’m always on the lookout for remarkable chocolaty treats. This one, however, was shared with me by my sister. Aware of the fact that I’m obsessed with chocolate, she sends me treats and recipes from time to time.
Who can ever say no to the combination of chocolate cake, ice cream, and hot fudge sauce? It almost always gets people’s jaws dropping.
This is a fantabulous recipe! My family and friends are raving about it, and it's a new favorite among the CUO staff. You can have it plain or enjoy it with ice cream. It has an interesting consistency and distinct flavor.
Since there are no eggs, it's also an excellent chocolate cake for those with egg allergies.
Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
Heat oven to 350°. In an ungreased 9X9-inch square pan, stir together flour, sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, baking powder, and salt until well blended. Mix in milk, oil, and vanilla with fork until smooth. Stir in nuts. Spread evenly in pan. Mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa in a bowl. Sprinkle sugar and cocoa mix over the top. Pour hot water over the covered batter, but do not mix. Bake for 40 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes. Spoon into dessert dishes or cut into squares. Invert each square onto dessert plate. Top with ice cream, and spoon the sauce from the pan over each. |
Enjoy! 🙂

We made this recipe over the weekend. It was fantastic! Due to a nut allergy in the house we substituted 1/2 cup chocolate chips for the nuts. That worked great and added even more chocolate impact.
