Easy No-Bake Chocolate Cake Recipe Using 3 Ingredients
April 26, 2022
Did you say a no-bake chocolate cake using 3 ingredients? Count me in!
I love cakes, but I’m not a baker. My mom usually does all the baking and then I do all the eating!
To be honest, upon seeing hundreds of cake recipes with hundreds of different ingredients, I already want to give up. Add to the fact that I don’t even know how to use an oven!
Here in the Philippines, there aren’t a lot of households with ovens at home. Most people rent simple apartments and having an oven isn’t really a priority. Not to mention it’s expensive buying one here!
Also, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, and most of our food don’t require being baked. That is why this no-bake recipe is perfect for those who don’t have ovens... or even those who just don't know how to use one (like me)!
Love camping? This is for you too! Campers would be able to bake this cake using a camp stove or hot plate. Imagine making your own dessert while camping? That would be really fun!
Well, to all those who are like me, don’t fret! We will eventually conquer baking. But for now, we will be able to bake a cake without using an oven and what’s better is we only need 3 ingredients. Yes, you read that right, only 3! Yay!
Let’s get right into it, shall we?
For our beginner cake, you only need 3 ingredients: Oreo cookies, milk, and baking powder. For a healthier option, you may substitute the Oreos to your chosen dark chocolate cookies! At this point, it may not be just as sweet as when you use Oreos, so prepare your chosen sweetener if you’d like.
You can also serve this cake with frosting and decorate as you want. Or you may eat it as is. No pressure! For the one I’m making, I made chocolate ganache using chocolate chips and heavy cream. Then for toppings, I used Cadbury flakes. You can even add fruits to yours!
Just a special note though, that this recipe only makes a 6-inch cake so feel free to double your portions in you want to add another layer.

For Chocolate Ganache (optional)
What to do: Split the cookies and remove the filling. Put the cream filling aside. Crush the cookies using a blender or manually until everything is fine crumbs. Combine crushed cookies, baking powder, and warm milk in a mixing bowl. Whisk until the consistency becomes smooth. Tip: For a smoother batter, warm the milk in the microwave for 1 minute to make it easier for the crushed cookies to melt! Add the cream filling and continue stirring until everything is smooth then transfer the mixture into a pan greased with butter. Time to steam! You can use a steamer or a stovetop. If using a steamer, cover the pan with foil and steam for 45 minutes. Use a toothpick and stick at the center, if it comes out clean then it’s ready! If using a stovetop, place a rack on a pot with medium-low heat. Make sure you cover the pot! Then place the pan on the rack inside the pot. Steam for 1 hour or until the toothpick trick is clean. After steaming, let the pan cool then invert to remove the cake. Set aside until fully cooled. While waiting for the cake to cool, time to make the chocolate ganache! Add the heavy cream on a saucepan and simmer on a medium-low heat. Do not boil. Then remove from heat and pour chocolate chips. Wait for 1 minute before lightly stirring until mixture is smooth. Let sit up to desired thickness. Pour the ganache onto the cake until all sides are covered. Decorate as desired. |

Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for about 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
