Divine Dark Chocolate with Raspberries

Divine chocolates are made from Ghanaian cacao beans grown by co-operative farmers from Kuapa Kokoo.

Many small farmers own the co-op where they grow cacao in the shade of the tropical rainforest canopy and carefully ferment and dry beans in small batches. The cacao is Fairtrade certified.

The story of Divine Chocolate is heart-warming.  Please visit their website to hear the stories of the farmer workers and their families and the tremendous impact the co-op has on their lives.

I found it incredibly interesting that many farmers who grow cacao have never seen the final product – a chocolate bar!

The cacao is grown in Ghana, but the chocolate bars are made in Germany. Since all cacao is exported and the chocolate made in Europe, the bars rarely make it back to Ghana for the farmers to enjoy.

One Of The Best

Thanks to the Kuapa Kokoo co-op and Divine Chocolate Limited, I am able to savor one the world’s best chocolate bars. Divine chocolates are among my top picks for excellent chocolate flavor, quality, social justice, and crop sustainability.

I’m slowly making my way through all the chocolate varieties of Divine, but let me start with my favorite one; Dark Chocolate with Raspberries.

This incredibly rich 70% dark chocolate has a strong chocolatey and nicely nutty flavor profile. There are pronounced vanilla, honey and spicy notes throughout the chocolate.

Then, periodic bursts of freeze-dried raspberry pieces add sour red fruit flavors to an already terrific combination of taste sensations.

The raspberry is not a jelly or a syrup, so there are a few seeds with which you’ll have to tolerate.  Sometimes the seeds interrupt the smooth and creamy mouth feel of the chocolate, but that's a small price to pay for a really delicious experience!

This is a must taste chocolate bar. Honestly, you will be hooked. That’s a good thing because the more you buy, the more you enrich the quality of life of cacao farmers in Kuapa Kokoo. Plus you’ll be known to have good taste when it comes to chocolate!
