Divine 85% Dark Chocolate
May 16, 2016
Last week I reviewed the Lindt 90% Supreme Dark chocolate. This week, I have another supremely dark chocolate to share with you; the Divine 85% Dark Chocolate bar.
All the Divine Chocolate bars are made from 100% Ghanaian chocolate (from the West African country of Ghana).
Because of this, the flavor profile for the entire line of chocolate varieties has a similar taste, aroma and texture. However, at 85% strength, and without any added ingredients like nuts, berries, or spicy bits, the natural nuances of Ghanaian chocolate stands out.
If you want to know what chocolate grown in Ghana’s climate tastes like, try this exceptionally high percentage bar.
Divine 85% vs. Lindt 90% Dark
When I compare my tasting experiences between the Lindt 90% and the Divine 85%, I notice that the Lindt is fruity first, followed by nutty and spice. The Divine is nutty first, followed by spice and a hint of toast, earth, and smoke.
They are very different from each other, yet very good and earn my highest ratings equally!
There’s no doubt in my mind that Divine and Lindt craft some of the world’s finest chocolates, but Divine out shines Lindt in one very important area – it is farmer owned and a Fairtrade chocolate company.
According to the www.lindtusa.com website, Lindt promises to follow a sustainably sourced and sustainably produced supply chain of cacao with ethical practices and close relationships with farmers. However, Lindt is not Fairtrade certified.
Not only does Divine practice Fairtrade with cacao, but it trades sugar, cocoa, and vanilla in compliance with Fairtrade Standards which totals 99% of their products’ ingredients.
Enjoy the Divine 85% Exquisitely Rich dark chocolate bar. And feel good while you do!
(Here's a 10-pack from Amazon with potentially free shipping. Compare with the options on the Divine store page.)
