Cravings – The Zero Calorie Chocolate, Yay or Nay?
June 13, 2014
We’ve all been there. You’ve packed your wheat bread sandwich for lunch and some celery sticks to boot. Then, all of a sudden, you’re consumed by the idea of devouring a humongous bar of chocolate… Right. Now.
Scratch that! Your beach trip is a weekend away. And you’ve been so hard on yourself just to get that bikini body you’ve been dying all year to have – or at least since the Holiday season was over.
Fret not! There’s a new project that promises to satisfy your chocolate craving, sans the trouble of weight gain that almost always comes with your chocolate-binging sessions. Will it remotely tweak your fancy, though?
This innovation is the brainchild of Ian Goldfarb, and it consists of strips of chocolate that resemble those Listerine strips that melt on your tongue. Those were all the rage back then, right? The idea is that these chocolate flavor-laced strips will by some means trick your mind into thinking your chocolate cravings are satisfied, while ingesting zero calories!
Willy Wonka and the 3-course meal (tomato soup, roast beef, or blueberry pie) chewing gum will always be remembered. And in some ways, this product resembles such concept. These strips could just be your perfect chocolate fix while on your way to *insert desired weight here*.
As I write this, the project has expired raising pledges of only $5,610, compared to the $40,000 needed to make its calorie-free chocolate. If you'd like to see the concept, take a look here.
What’s your take on this? Would a burst of chocolate flavor really satisfy? Or do you need the biting of the bar or the melting on your tongue? Please share your thoughts below.
