Chocolate Orange Supreme Cheesecake Recipe

It won't be long before summer is here, and the song of ice cream trucks and children running fills the streets. For many children, the single best sound they’ll hear on any hot summer day is the catchy jingle of the ice cream truck as it makes its way down their street.
As a child, I recall orange dreamsicles to have been a popular treat of choice. I wonder what the kiddies go for nowadays! Well, if you're looking for a dessert that brings the magic of summer days inside, this chocolate orange-dreamy-cheesecake pairs well with sunny days and bare feet.
It isn't written down who exactly the first "ice cream man" was, but a good guess might be that he was one of Harry Burt's employees. Mr. Burt, of Youngstown, Ohio, developed a frozen ice cream treat called the Good Humor back in 1920, and served it on a stick.
Burt had drivers, wearing white uniforms, drive several trucks around town selling his ice cream creation. In order to get people's attention, the drivers would ring bells that were rigged to the trucks. Naturally, the ice cream bars, and their delivery system became a hit.
This trend grew, and ice cream trucks were quite popular by the 1950s, all throughout the United States. Some were used by ice cream companies to promote their products, others were private businesses started by entrepreneurs.
In the beginning, dry ice was used to keep the ice cream cold. Now there are huge refrigerators in the back of the trucks that keep the ice cream so cold, it'll give you brain freeze on a hot summer's day!

Combine crumbs, cinnamon and margarine; press onto bottom of 9-inch spring-form pan. Bake at 325°, for 10 minutes. Combine cream cheese and sugar, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in sour cream and vanilla. Blend chocolate into 3 cups batter; blend liqueur and orange peel into remaining batter. Pour chocolate batter over crust. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325°. Spoon remaining batter over chocolate batter and continue baking 30 minutes more. Loosen cake from rim of pan; cool before removing rim of pan. Chill. |
