Chocolate Orange Cake Recipe

Celebrate the grass getting greener with some delicious chocolate orange cake as we enter the season of delicious ripe fruits and veggies. The orange zest will perk up your dusty winter senses and bring your mind to backyard, barefoot fun.
Oranges are said to be native to Southeast Asia, where different varieties date back to around 7000 years ago. They reached the Roman empire around the 1st century, by passage of Persian traders who had relations with India.
Not long after, the Roman's orange groves spread from North Africa to Morocco. New varieties of the fruit were produced, and finally introduced to Western Europe around the 11th century.
Spanish explorers brought the orange to America. Here in the U.S. the first orange tree is believed to be planted by Ponce de Leon, who planted it near St. Augustine, Florida, in the 1500s. Source: TheLedger.com
Chocolate Orange Cake
Preheat oven 350°. Use bundt pan or 8x8-inch pan coated with nonstick spray. Beat egg 2-3 minutes on medium speed, adding sugar gradually. Add all ingredients except for garnish and mix gently. Put in pan. Bake 30 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean. Cool before removing from pan and garnish with cocoa powder and orange zest. |
