Nearly everyone has grown up eating Oreo cookies. Most of us have also tried dunking this delicious delight in a glass of milk. Heatwave and Chocolate

A heatwave? That sounds good to me right now. With below normal temperatures in our area throughout April (except for that one glorious day when the temperature spiked to 80), we're left wondering if Spring will ever arrive. Of course, it's been said that of the 4 seasons, Wisconsin gets 3 Winters and a Summer. So maybe we're right on track.
Well, not all is chilly. April 2011 was the warmest April on record for the UK, with records going back over 100 years. For central England tempererature records go back to 1659, and this April beat them all.
So what does this heat have to do with chocolate? It turns out that British chocolate-maker Thorntons saw below expected chocolate sales despite the Easter holiday. They're blaming the heat as the factor that caused people to purchase less chocolate.

Chocolate Price Drop?

Good news. With the former president of Ivory Coast negotiating an exit strategy with UN authorities, it appears that chocolate prices may be headed down.
Cacao shipments from Ivory Coast had dropped to near zero after the election conflict in late 2010. That's a problem since the country supplies about a third of the world's supply. Because of the reduced supply, prices have been on pretty much a constant increase.
Now that a surrender is being negotiated, cocoa futures prices dropped immediately to the lowest point in the last three months. This is based on the speculation that the 350,000 tons of cacao held in Ivory Coast port warehouses would be released while the European Union removes its trade embargo.

I enjoy chocolate and tea. I don’t mean hot tea with a chocolate pastry (which I’m not opposed to) but today I mean chocolate covered tea flavored chocolates like dark chocolate Early Grey truffles or Chai milk chocolate bars.
