Bourbon Balls
February 12, 2014
I love hot chocolate, and any chocolate drink, for that matter. I can't stress it enough. Not gonna lie, I also have this intense love of alcohol drinks. Among the top of my list: bourbon drinks. I love bourbon with citrus, bourbon with ginger, bourbon with...well, just about anything.
According to Wikipedia, bourbon whiskey is a type of American whiskey – a barrel-aged distilled spirit made primarily from corn. The name derives from the French Bourbon dynasty, although it is disputed whether its namesake Kentucky county or New Orleans street is the source of the whiskey's name.
Turn it into a dessert, and I'm a happy camper!
Bourbon Balls Combine pecans and bourbon; wait at least 3 hours for pecans to absorb bourbon flavor. Cream butter and powdered sugar with mixer, adding bourbon and pecan mixture. Roll mixture into small balls and chill in refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours. Melt chocolate in double boiler. Follow tempering instructions on package or see our tempering training. Dip balls into chocolate and put on waxed paper to dry. (Use fork or long skewer when dipping balls.) ** as an alternative to tempering you could use a confectionery coating, which may be sold as "chocolate flavored coating," instead of the semi-sweet chocolate. These are easy to work with and will harden nicely without tempering. |
Enjoy! 🙂
