Added Awesomeness To The Already Awesome Chocolate
October 11, 2012
Did my title just scare you? Please, say it didn't. I may come off as a chocoholic who worships chocolate and its overall greatness. Well, yeah, that is actually true. But heck. I am sane enough to be writing this for you. So, welcome, and go on with your reading, and you will perfectly understand why I am just this appreciative when it comes to chocolate.
Lots of things have already been said about chocolate when it comes to its beneficial effects to the human mind and body. Little did we know that further studies and research are being conducted in order to lengthen the existing long list of the good things about it.
The American Heart Association conducted a study, reported in their journal named Hypertension. The end result of which implies that cocoa, which is the main ingredient of chocolate, possess antioxidants that helps in improving mild cognitive impairment in the elderly.
The study involved a group of aged participants, who in a span of two months, were supplied with drinks containing a variety of cocoa flavonol levels. This process yielded results showing that the ones who received the highest of these doses exhibited progress in a few cognitive tasks including memory function.
Other flavonol rich products, besides chocolate, include red wine, apples, tea and berries.
Furthermore, recent studies look back at past studies for comparison purposes. They discovered that cocoa products high in flavonols may have a small, but very important role, in lowering high blood pressure.
In addition to that, it also helps alleviate risks for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and aging problems.
However, remember that too much of everything is bad. Yes chocolate can do you good but do not go overboard. Take slow steps, and eat in moderation.
To add to the information, dark chocolates contain more cocoa thus an increased sense of beneficial effects. White chocolate does not contain cocoa at all, so sorry. All chocolates are high in calories and sugar so beware. You would not want to overgrow your favorite clothes or be swimming in a bed of ants.
A lot of people tend to be hard on themselves by depriving themselves of chocolate. That is just plain nonsense. If you want to enjoy it, throw away the guilty thoughts and savor it the healthy way.
